トーストマスターズの皆さん、こんばんは！
8月17日の通常例会「ハイブリッド」では、2つの準備スピーチとテーブル・トピックが用意され、
大いに盛り上がりました！
東京レインボートーストマスターズならではの特別セッション、「レインボーな瞬間」で始まりました。この1-2週間で、私たちが 「虹 」を感じた瞬間について話します。例えば、LGBTQIA+の問題について気になったことであったり、幸せな瞬間であったり、多様性を感じた時間であったりします。
バングラデシュにおけるLGBTQIA+の権利や、手話の学習などについての話が共有されました。
今夜はMさんとEさんが、英語の準備スピーチを用意しました。良いリーダーになるために必要なこと、そして文化的な国境を越えて翻訳された名前が意味するものについて聞きました。メンバーはさまざまな背景を持っており、このスピーチは私たちの多くに感動しました。
最後に、テーブル・トピックス！テーブル・トピックとは、スピーカーがランダムに呼ばれ、即興でスピーチをすることです。その場でスピーチのスキルを強化するには最適の方法です！
今夜は、LGBTQIA+コミュニティにおけるジェンダー、多様性、交差性について話しました。どの質問も簡単なものではありませんでしたが、各メンバーの率直さと思いやりに感銘を受けました。メンバーの一人、Lさんが言ったように、「これらの質問は、最近、私の頭をよぎりました！」。
私もです！
全体として、私はすがすがしい気分でミーティングを終えることができた。

On August 17th, we had a very lively hybrid meeting with two prepared speeches and Table Topics that really made us think.

Good evening, fellow Toastmasters! We started off the evening with a special session that only Tokyo Rainbow Toastmasters has—called the “Rainbow Moment of the Evening.” In it, we talk about the past week and the times in which we felt “rainbow.” It could be something about LGBTQIA+ issues that’s been on our mind, some happy moment we experienced, or a time when we felt diversity.
We shared stories about LGBTQIA+ rights in Bangladesh, learning sign language, and more.
We had two prepared speeches tonight, M-san and E-san. Both were in English. We heard about what it takes to be a good leader, and what a name means when it’s translated across cultural borders. Our members come from a variety of backgrounds, and this resonated with many of us.
Finally—we engaged in some thought-provoking Table Topics. Table Topics is when a speaker is called at random to do an impromptu speech. It’s a great way to strengthen your speaking skills on the fly!
Tonight, we talked about gender, diversity, and intersectionality in the LGBTQIA+ community. None of these questions were easy, and I was impressed with the candor and compassion each of the members spoke with. As one member, L-san, said, “these questions have been on my mind a lot recently!”
Mine too!
All and all, I walked away from the meeting feeling refreshed.
