TRTMC Meeting #82
2020/04/18
Everyone seems to be getting used to online club meetings now - pretty much every member is on time, and tonight’s meetings there were barely any major hiccups aside from people (including me!) forgetting to unmute themselves. T started us right at 6 o’clock, and even gave a friendly reminder about the mute function and how to use it most effectively. Perhaps another meeting or two and everything will be almost seamless.
Tonights’s TMOE was L, and off the bat I was so impressed that he did his facilitation of the meeting entirely in both English and Japanese, which I think is so beneficial for our club as although we are a ‘bilingual’ club, that doesn’t mean everyone is fluent in both. Conducting the meeting by providing Japanese and English means that everyone feels included and considered.
We started the meeting by T2 kicking off with the Rainbow Moment of the Week; a segment unique to our club. This always puts people in a really good mood and I think sets the tone of the evening.
L2’s lecture was educational and well thoughtout: 10 points for preparation! This was followed by prepared speeches by H, A and G, our reigning Best of Best Speaker. All speeches were fantastic and very varied in subject matter so there was a lot of food for thought!
H based her Table Topics questions on the Coronavirus and how it’s affecting us personally. It was nice to be reminded that we are not alone - everyone is having to go through this, and everyone is dealing with it in their own way. The questions were challenging but relatable, so all the members chosen to speak were able to answer and talk about the topic they were given.
I took over as GE, and asked C, A2 and K to do their evaluations of each prepared speech. There was a bit of confusion about the time limit for evaluation so unfortunately only one of the evaluators did theirs within the limit and by default won the award.
I asked for report from helpers and then gave my evaluation of the meeting overall. It was such an engaging and smoothlyran meeting, and I think all members said goodnight with an excitement and eagerness for the next.
