Our President G san was absent today due to illness, but the lovely Vice President T san took charge and began the meeting bilingually!  Beautiful and smooth. T san gave a detailed and visual guide of how-to-have the meeting via zoom online. T san also went over our ground rules for a safe and supportive meeting. Today we welcomed two guests joining us online from Thailand: B san and K san

Our TMOE of the evening was D san who eloquently guided the meeting.

WOTE was led by K san, who gave us a challenge with a phrase (instead of a word): mankai no sakura (cherry blossoms in full bloom). As it was difficult, K san gave examples for us to try and incorporate it!

For example, “My happiness is cherry blossoms in full bloom.”

The timer L san immediately used the WOE!  Well done, L san!  They gave us motivation to use it ourselves. L san creatively used the timer colours and guideline as a zoom background!

For our RAINBOW MOMENT OF THE WEEK it was T san’s first time to take on this role.

T san was an excellent host with a steady voice and strong delivery. T san incorporated a very relative topic because it was quite recent to today’s date (trans visibility day). Rainbow moments of the week included the following:

C san: coming out to friends and family

A san: young children casually talking about queer topics being normalised

B san: was recently interviewed by 3 10-year olds about LGBTQ community

K san: a young person and had the courage to come out to K san as transgender.

T san: saw beautiful sakura

We had two prepared speeches delivered by A san and C san. A san’s speech was about choices and the three steps to make good decisions:

1) ukereru: accept the challenge

2) mokutekiwo: to continue to the goal

3) do difficult things: do different things

C san gave an interesting speech on the topic of Geriatric Pregnancy. Regardless of being heterosexual or LGBTQ+, the topic of family impacts everyone. For people who plan to have children (queer or straight), knowing more about the options is important. C san gave us interesting information about the process of pregnancy in relation to age.

TABLE TOPICS was lead by A san, with the theme of Glimmers:  things that helps us deal with triggers.

examples of glimmers (food that makes you happy)

smells that you enjoy

a song that gives you a positive energy

a person, animal , object that brings joy

activity: (walk)

place: Japan

Overall,  a smooth meeting with exciting topics and many smiling faces.
