寒い日が続きますが、無事今年も例会をスタートすることができました。
今夜の言葉は「さきがけ」。今日はいつもとは違うアジェンダで進行しました。
まずは先月入会してくれたOさんによるアイスブレークスピーチ。カラフルな資料と、わかりやすい説明で、聞いている人みんながOさんの好きなことや、人柄、なぜこのクラブに入ったのか、などを知ることができました。
論評を担当してくださったTさんが言われていた通り、これからも素敵なスピーチをたくさん聞かせてほしいです。
続いて、翌日のユーモアコンテスト出場者４名による、リハーサルセッションでした。みなさん緊張していると言っていたにもかかわらず、前回の練習からかなりレベルアップしていて、内容もデリバリーも素晴らしく、一人一人のメッセージがよく伝わりました。リラックスして、本番に臨んでほしいです。
テーブルトピックスはKさんが担当してくれました。トピックは「正月の過ごし方」。特に日本出身以外のメンバーをたくさん指名してくれたので、色々な国のエピソードや、正月の食事などについて聞くことができ、面白かったです。
例会は時間通り終わりましたが、閉会後も明日のコンテストの熱い激励とフィードバックが続くという異例の例会でした。それだけみんな明日のメンバーのスピーチを応援したい、という気持ちが強いのだと思います。
最後に。今年も時代にさきがけて、いろいろなことにチャレンジするクラブでありたいですね。

Happy New Year!
It’s still a cold day, but we could have started our regular meetings this year as well.
The word for Evening is “Sakigake(Pioneer)“.
Today we had a different agenda than usual.
First, we had an ice-breaker speech by O-san, who just joined us last month. With colorful pictures and clear explanations, everyone was able to learn about O-san’s favorite things, personality, and why O-san joined this club.
As O-san’s evaluator T-san said, hope O-san will continue to give us many wonderful speeches.
Regarding a rehearsal session for the next day’s humor contest, even though all 4 contestants said they felt nervous, however, they had improved a lot since the last practice session. The contents and delivery were excellent, and each message was well impressed for the audience.
I hope they would relax and go for it tomorrow.
K-san was in charge of the table topics. We talked about “How to spend New Year’s Day”. It was interesting to hear about the episodes and New Year’s meals of various countries.
We have a lot of members from many countries, this is one of the unique advantages of our club.
Even after the meeting was closed, we continued discuss and give a lot of feedback to the contestants by enthusiastic encouragement.
I think that we could see how strongly everyone wanted to support every contestant.
Lastly, I hope that this year we would like to continue to challenge ourselves as a pioneer in the colorful world.
