In late October, we enjoyed a nice day camp with other club members—the autumn weather was perfect for grilling, chatting and enjoying nature. On November 5th, we reconvened for the 140th hybrid meeting of Tokyo Rainbow Toastmasters club; held in-person and online.
We had a new "member" of TRTMC—a device named Owl who can shoot a 360 degree video of the club room so that members online can interact with everyone on site. It says, "whoo" when turned on, which was very cute.
Tonight's Word of the Evening was "sparkling." It was reminiscent of sunshine sparkling through autumn leaves—something that has been happening a lot this month. Tonight we had three speakers; K-san gave a speech about looking back on their own coming out; T-san, a speech about different types of people he'd met; and Y-san a charming speech about elevators. Did you know that elevators used to be operated by hand lever?
In Table Topics, participants were asked to do a short, impromptu speech about a certain topic. Following the autumnal theme, our Table Topics were all about everyone's image of autumn. We talked about fall colors, riding with our sweethearts in a sedan, and Pumpkin Spice Lattes.
S-san, G-san and U-san were our evaluators this evening. Evaluation at Toastmasters is important because it allows us to improve our speaking. Being an evaluator is also a fun challenge; in order to provide good feedback, you must be concise and constructive and all three of our evaluators were great at this.
Overall, it was a very fun hybrid meeting. We are happy to announce that starting from December, we will be doing TRTMC as a fully hybrid club. We're looking forward to seeing your faces, whether they be in person or online!

10月下旬には、クラブメンバーと一緒にデイキャンプを楽しみました。秋の気候は、焼きものやおしゃべり、自然を楽しむのにぴったりでした。11月5日、東京レインボートーストマスターズクラブ(TRTMC)の140回ハイブリッド例会に参加しました。
TRTMCに新しい「メンバー」を紹介しました。オウルというな装置は、クラブルームの360度ビデオを撮影できるし、オンラインメンバーがその場にいる全員と交流できるようにするためのものです。電源を入れると「ホー」と鳴き、とてもかわいい子です。
今夜の一言は、「輝く」です。今月は紅葉が多いので、紅葉の間から差し込む太陽の光を輝くのイメージしている言葉です。Kさんは自分のカミングアウトを振り返ってのスピーチ、Tさんはこれまで出会った様々な人たちについてのスピーチ、Yさんはエレベーターについてのチャーミングなスピーチでした。エレベーターは昔、手回しレバーで操作していたことを知っていますか？
テーブルトピックスは、参加者があるテーマについて即興で短いスピーチをするものです。今回は秋ということで、皆さんの秋のイメージにちなんだトピックになりました。紅葉の話、恋人とセダンに乗る話、パンプキンスパイスラテの話。
Sさん、Gさん、Uさんは今晩の評価者でした。トーストマスターズにおける評価は、私たちのスピーチを向上させるために重要です。良いフィードバックをするためには、簡潔で建設的でなければなりませんが、3人の評価者はいずれもこの点で優れていました。
全体として、とても楽しいハイブリッド例会でした。12月からは、TRTMCを完全なハイブリッドクラブとしてやっていくことになりました。対面でもオンラインでも、皆さんの顔を見るのが楽しみです〜
